Product Setup
Unpack and Position Your Printer
Remove the HP DeskJet 2680 from its packaging and place it on a flat, stable surface near a power outlet. Ensure adequate ventilation around the printer and keep it away from direct sunlight and moisture.
Install Cartridges and Load Paper
Open the cartridge access door, remove the protective plastic tape from both the HP 65 black and HP 65 tri-color cartridges, and insert them into the designated slots until they click into place. Load plain paper into the input tray with the print side facing up.
Power On and Run Initial Setup
Press the Power button to turn on the printer. Follow any onscreen prompts on the control panel display. The printer will perform initialization, which may include cartridge alignment and test printing.
Install Software and Connect to Network
Download and install the HP printer software from www.hp.com or use the installation disc. For wireless printing, press the Wireless button on the control panel and follow the setup wizard. Alternatively, use the HP Smart app on your mobile device for wireless connectivity.
Pro-Tip: Do not touch the copper-colored contacts or the ink nozzles. Touching these parts can result in clogs, ink failure, and bad electrical connections.

Important Safety Instructions
- Always turn off the printer using the Power button and allow it to cool before performing maintenance to protect cartridges and internal components.
- Keep cartridges in their original protective packaging until ready for installation to prevent ink evaporation and nozzle clogs.
- Clean cartridge contacts with a lint-free cloth if error messages appear; do not touch the print nozzles or ink chambers.
- Replace cartridges promptly when print quality becomes unacceptable rather than waiting for complete depletion to maintain consistent output quality.
