HP DeskJet 2635 Manual — Setup, Troubleshooting & WiFi Guide
The HP DeskJet 2635 is a compact wireless all-in-one inkjet printer capable of printing, scanning, and copying from virtually anywhere using the HP Smart app. It features Wi-Fi Direct connectivity and is compatible with iOS, Android, and Windows 10 devices. This page covers everything from initial setup and paper loading to cartridge maintenance and troubleshooting common issues.
Product Setup
Unbox and Power On
Remove all packaging materials and tape from the printer, including from the cartridge access area. Plug the power cord into the rear of the printer and connect it to a power outlet, then press the Power button to turn the printer on.
Install the Ink Cartridges
Open the cartridge access door and wait for the print carriage to move to the center. Remove the HP 65 or HP 65XL cartridges from their packaging, pull off the plastic tape using the pull tab, and slide each cartridge into its corresponding slot until it clicks into place. Close the cartridge access door when done.
Load Paper into the Input Tray
Raise the input tray and slide the paper-width guide to the left. Insert a stack of plain white paper with the short edge down and print side up, sliding it in until it stops. Adjust the paper-width guide snugly against the paper edge, then lower the output tray and pull out the output tray extender.
Install Software and Connect Wirelessly
Download and install the HP printer software or the HP Smart app from 123.hp.com on your Windows, iOS, or Android device. Follow the on-screen instructions to connect your DeskJet 2635 to your wireless network. Once connected, the Wireless light on the control panel will remain solid.
Pro-Tip: Do not touch the copper-colored contacts or the ink nozzles. Touching these parts can result in clogs, ink failure, and bad electrical connections.
WiFi Connection Guide
Wireless Network Setup (WPS)
Connect your HP DeskJet 2635 to your home Wi-Fi network using WPS push-button mode. Press the Wireless button on the printer, then press the WPS button on your router within two minutes. The Wireless light will stop blinking and remain solid once the printer is successfully connected to the network.
Wi-Fi Direct Connection
Use Wi-Fi Direct to print directly from your mobile device without a router. Press and hold the Wireless button and the Resume button together for three seconds to enable Wi-Fi Direct. The Wi-Fi Direct icon will appear on the control panel display. Search for the printer name in your device's Wi-Fi settings and connect — supports up to 5 simultaneous devices.

Important Safety Instructions
- Always turn off the HP DeskJet 2635 using the Power button and wait for the light to go out before unplugging — this parks the cartridges properly and prevents the HP 65 nozzles from drying out.
- Check estimated ink levels regularly through the HP printer software or HP Smart app and keep a replacement HP 65 or HP 65XL cartridge on hand to avoid unexpected printing delays.
- Clean the cartridge contacts using a dry, lint-free cloth if you experience cartridge errors — never touch the gold electrical contacts or ink nozzles directly with your fingers.
- Remove printed pages from the output tray frequently and avoid overloading the input tray to prevent paper jams and skewed pages — always use paper of the same size and type in a single load.
