Unbox and Power On

Remove all packaging materials and tape from the printer, then plug the power cord into a functioning outlet. Press the Power button on the control panel to turn the printer on and wait for it to initialize completely before proceeding.

2

Install the Ink Cartridges

Open the cartridge access door and wait for the print carriage to move to the center. Remove the HP 65 black and tri-color cartridges from their packaging, pull off the plastic tape using the pull tab without touching the electrical contacts, and slide each cartridge into its matching slot until it clicks into place, then close the access door.

3

Load Paper into the Input Tray

Raise the input tray and slide the paper-width guide to the left. Insert a stack of plain white paper with the short edge down and print side up into the input tray, then slide the paper-width guide snugly against the edge of the paper. Lower the output tray and pull out the output tray extender to catch printed pages.

4

Install Software and Connect Wirelessly

Printer Won't Print — No Output or No Responseexpand_more
Make sure the printer is powered on and paper is loaded correctly in the input tray. Check the printer software on your computer for any error messages and follow the on-screen prompts to resolve them. Verify the printer is not set to Paused or Offline by opening Devices and Printers in your Windows Control Panel, right-clicking the HP DeskJet 2633, and confirming no paused status is active. If the issue persists, restart the Print Spooler service and clear the print queue, then try printing again.
Paper Jam — How to Clear Jammed Paperexpand_more
Start by removing all paper from the input tray and checking for jammed sheets using a flashlight. Press the Cancel button to let the printer attempt to clear the jam automatically. If that does not work, open the cartridge access door, wait for the carriage to stop, then power off the printer and unplug it before carefully removing jammed paper with both hands. Check the output tray area and the cleanout door on the bottom of the printer for any remaining torn pieces, then reload paper and press the Resume button to continue.
Poor Print Quality — Streaks, Faded Colors, or Missing Sectionsexpand_more
First, check the estimated ink levels from the HP printer software or the control panel display — replace the HP 65 or HP 65XL cartridges if ink is low. Make sure you are using HP-recommended paper with the ColorLok logo for best results. Open the printer software, navigate to 'Maintain Your Printer,' and run the 'Align Cartridges' and 'Clean Cartridges' tools from the Device Services tab. If color blocks on the printed diagnostics page show white lines or missing areas, run the cartridge cleaning cycle again.
Cartridge Error or Ink Alert Light Is Onexpand_more
The Ink Alert light indicates a low ink warning or cartridge problem. Open the cartridge access door and check that both the HP 65 black and tri-color cartridges are properly seated and that all plastic tape has been removed from the cartridge contacts. If a cartridge Ink Level icon is blinking on the display, remove that cartridge and clean its gold electrical contacts with a dry lint-free cloth, then reinsert it firmly until it clicks. If the error persists, replace the affected cartridge with a genuine HP 65 or HP 65XL cartridge.
Wireless Connection Issues — Printer Not Found on Networkexpand_more
Press the Wireless button and the Information button at the same time to print a Wireless Network Test Report and Network Configuration Page to diagnose the issue. Make sure your wireless router is powered on and that the printer is within range — move the printer closer to the router if the signal is weak. If the Wireless Attention icon is showing on the control panel display, press the Wireless button to restart the wireless connection process. You can also use the HP Print and Scan Doctor utility on Windows to automatically detect and fix wireless connectivity problems.

Important Safety Instructions

  • Always turn off the HP DeskJet 2633 using the Power button and wait for the Power light to go out before unplugging — this prevents the HP 65 cartridge nozzles from drying out.
  • Check estimated ink levels regularly from the HP printer software or the control panel Ink Level icons, and keep a spare HP 65XL cartridge on hand to avoid unexpected printing delays.
  • Align cartridges after installing new HP 65 or HP 65XL cartridges by using the 'Align Cartridges' tool in the HP printer software under 'Maintain Your Printer' to ensure optimal print quality.
  • Clean the scanner glass periodically with a soft, lint-free cloth to remove dust and smudges that can reduce copy and scan quality — lift the scanner lid and gently wipe the glass surface before closing it.
