Unbox and Power On

Remove all packaging materials and tape from the printer, including any inside the cartridge access door. Connect the power cord to the printer and a working outlet, then press the Power button to turn the printer on. Wait for the printer to complete its initialization sequence before proceeding.

2

Install the Ink Cartridges

Open the cartridge access door and wait for the print carriage to move to the center. Remove the HP 65 tri-color and black cartridges from their packaging, peel off the plastic tape using the pull tab, and slide each cartridge into the correct color-coded slot at a slight upward angle until it clicks into place. Close the cartridge access door to begin initialization.

3

Load Paper and Connect Wirelessly

Raise the input tray, slide the paper-width guide to the left, and insert a stack of plain white paper print-side up until it stops. Lower the output tray and extend the tray extender. Then press the Wireless button on the control panel and follow the on-screen prompts or use the HP Smart app to connect the printer to your Wi-Fi network.

4

Install HP Software and Print a Test Page

Download and install the HP printer software on your Windows or Mac computer, or install the HP Smart app from 123.hp.com on your mobile device. Once installed, open the software and use the toolbox to align the cartridges and print a diagnostic test page to confirm everything is working correctly.

Wireless Network Setup (WPS or HP Software)

Connect the DeskJet 2632 to your home Wi-Fi network by pressing the Wireless button on the control panel and following the HP printer software setup wizard on your Windows or Mac computer. Alternatively, use WPS by pressing the Wireless and Information buttons simultaneously and then pressing the WPS button on your router within two minutes. The Wireless light will remain solid when successfully connected.

Wi-Fi Direct (Device-to-Printer)

Wi-Fi Direct allows your smartphone, tablet, or laptop to print directly to the DeskJet 2632 without a shared Wi-Fi network. To enable it, press and hold the Wireless button and the Resume button together for three seconds until the Wi-Fi Direct icon appears on the control panel display. Search for the printer's Wi-Fi Direct name on your device and connect — up to five devices can connect simultaneously. Print the Wi-Fi Direct Guide by pressing the Information and Resume buttons at the same time.

Printer Won't Print — Stuck or Offlineexpand_more
Ensure the printer is powered on and paper is loaded in the input tray. On Windows, go to Devices and Printers, right-click the HP DeskJet 2632, and make sure 'Use Printer Offline' and 'Pause Printing' are not checked. Verify the printer is set as the default printer. If the print queue is stuck, open it and cancel all documents, then restart the Print Spooler service via Windows Services. Restart both the printer and computer if issues persist.
Paper Jam — Clearing Jams in All Areasexpand_more
Start by removing all paper from the input tray and checking for jammed sheets using a flashlight. Press the Cancel button to let the printer attempt auto-clearing. If the jam is in the cartridge access area, open the door, wait for the carriage to stop, unplug the printer, and carefully remove any paper blocking the carriage path. For jams underneath the printer, flip it over, open the cleanout door on the bottom, remove the jammed paper, and close the door securely before restarting. After clearing all areas, reload paper and press the Resume button to continue.
Poor Print Quality — Streaks, Faded or Missing Colorsexpand_more
First, confirm you are using genuine HP 65 or HP 65XL cartridges and that ink levels are not critically low. Select the correct paper type and print quality settings in the printer software. Use the HP printer toolbox (Print & Scan > Maintain Your Printer) to run 'Align Cartridges' and then 'Print Diagnostic Information' to view color block test results. If blocks appear faded or streaked, run 'Clean Cartridges' from the Device Services tab. On Mac, open HP Utility and use 'Clean Printheads' only when necessary to avoid wasting ink.
Cartridge Error — Ink Alert Light On or Blinkingexpand_more
If the Ink Alert light is on and an Ink Level icon is blinking, a cartridge may be missing, improperly installed, or still have plastic tape covering its contacts. Open the cartridge access door, remove the affected HP 65 cartridge, verify the pull-tab tape has been fully removed, and reinsert it firmly until it clicks. If the error persists, clean the gold electrical contacts on the cartridge and inside the printer using a dry lint-free cloth. If both cartridge icons blink simultaneously, check that both cartridges are installed and are genuine HP cartridges compatible with the DeskJet 2632.
Wireless Not Connecting — Wireless Light Blinkingexpand_more
If the Wireless light is blinking and the Wireless Attention icon appears on the display, the printer is having trouble connecting to your network. Press the Wireless button and the Information button simultaneously to print a Wireless Network Test Report and Network Configuration Page — review this report for specific error details. Ensure your router is powered on and the printer is within range. Try moving the printer closer to the router. If using WPS, ensure you complete the connection within the two-minute window. You can also run the HP Print and Scan Doctor utility on Windows to automatically diagnose and fix the connection issue.

Important Safety Instructions

  • Always turn off the DeskJet 2632 using the Power button and wait for the light to go out before unplugging — this protects the HP 65 cartridges from drying out by capping the print nozzles properly.
  • Check estimated ink levels regularly via the control panel display icons or through the HP printer software 'Estimated Levels' tab, and keep a spare HP 65XL cartridge on hand to avoid unexpected printing delays.
  • Run the cartridge alignment tool from the HP printer toolbox after installing new HP 65 or HP 65XL cartridges to ensure the best possible print quality on the DeskJet 2632.
  • Do not leave a removed cartridge outside the printer for more than 30 minutes — exposed nozzles can dry out and clog; if a cartridge must be removed, reinsert it as quickly as possible.
