HP DeskJet 2625 Manual — Setup, Troubleshooting & WiFi Guide
The HP DeskJet 2625 is a wireless all-in-one inkjet printer designed for home use, offering print, scan, and copy functionality in a compact form. It uses HP 65 and HP 65XL ink cartridges and supports mobile printing via the HP Smart app on iOS, Android, and Windows 10. This page covers everything from initial setup and wireless configuration to cartridge maintenance and troubleshooting common issues.
Product Setup
Unbox and Power On
Remove all packaging materials and tape from the HP DeskJet 2625. Connect the power cord to the rear power connection port and press the Power button on the control panel to turn the printer on. Wait for the printer to complete its initialization sequence before proceeding.
Install the Ink Cartridges
Open the cartridge access door and wait for the print carriage to move to the center of the printer. Remove the HP 65 tri-color and black cartridges from their packaging, peel off the plastic tape using the pull tab, and slide each cartridge into its matching color-coded slot until it clicks into place. Close the cartridge access door when done.
Load Paper into the Input Tray
Raise the input tray and slide the paper-width guide to the left. Insert a stack of plain white paper with the short edge down and print side up, then slide the paper down until it stops. Adjust the paper-width guide snugly against the paper edge, then lower the output tray and pull out the output tray extender.
Install Software and Connect Wirelessly
Download and install the HP printer software on your Windows or Mac computer, or install the HP Smart app from 123.hp.com on your iOS, Android, or Windows 10 device. Follow the on-screen instructions to connect the HP DeskJet 2625 to your wireless network. Once connected, the Wireless light on the control panel will remain solid.
Pro-Tip: Do not touch the copper-colored contacts or the ink nozzles. Touching these parts can result in clogs, ink failure, and bad electrical connections.
WiFi Connection Guide
Wireless Network Setup (WPS)
To connect via WPS, press the Wireless button and the Information button at the same time on the control panel to initiate Wi-Fi Protected Setup mode. The Wireless light will blink and signal bars will blink in sync during the connection process. Once successfully connected, the Wireless light, Wireless icon, and Signal Bars icon will all remain on solid.
Wi-Fi Direct Mobile Printing

Important Safety Instructions
- Always turn the HP DeskJet 2625 off using the Power button and wait for the Power light to go out before unplugging — this prevents HP 65 cartridge nozzles from drying out.
- Check estimated ink levels regularly from the HP printer software or the Ink Level icons on the control panel display, and keep a replacement HP 65 or HP 65XL cartridge on hand to avoid printing delays.
- Align the cartridges after each replacement by loading plain white paper and using the 'Align Cartridges' option in the printer toolbox under Print & Scan > Maintain Your Printer.
- Clean the scanner glass periodically with a soft, lint-free cloth to ensure accurate scans and copies — even small smudges on the scanner glass can affect copy quality on the HP DeskJet 2625.
