Unbox and Power On

Remove all packaging materials and tape from the HP DeskJet 2625. Connect the power cord to the rear power connection port and press the Power button on the control panel to turn the printer on. Wait for the printer to complete its initialization sequence before proceeding.

2

Install the Ink Cartridges

Open the cartridge access door and wait for the print carriage to move to the center of the printer. Remove the HP 65 tri-color and black cartridges from their packaging, peel off the plastic tape using the pull tab, and slide each cartridge into its matching color-coded slot until it clicks into place. Close the cartridge access door when done.

3

Load Paper into the Input Tray

Raise the input tray and slide the paper-width guide to the left. Insert a stack of plain white paper with the short edge down and print side up, then slide the paper down until it stops. Adjust the paper-width guide snugly against the paper edge, then lower the output tray and pull out the output tray extender.

Install Software and Connect Wirelessly

Printer Has a Paper Jamexpand_more
First, press the Cancel button to try to clear the jam automatically. If that does not work, check the input tray, output tray, cartridge access area, and the bottom cleanout door for jammed paper. Always pull jammed paper gently with both hands to avoid tearing. After clearing all jammed paper, reload the input tray and press the Resume button to continue printing. The control panel will display error code E4 when a paper jam is detected.
Cartridge Error or Ink Alert Light Is Onexpand_more
If the Ink Alert light is on and an Ink Level icon is blinking, remove the indicated cartridge and verify that all plastic tape has been removed from the contacts. Reinsert the cartridge firmly until it clicks. If the problem persists, clean the cartridge contacts and printer contacts using a dry, lint-free cloth. Make sure you are using genuine HP 65 or HP 65XL cartridges, as counterfeit or previously used cartridges can trigger error states.
Printer Will Not Print or Is Offlineexpand_more
Ensure the printer is powered on and paper is loaded in the input tray. On Windows, open 'Devices and Printers' from the Control Panel, right-click the HP DeskJet 2625, and confirm it is set as the default printer and is not paused or set to offline mode. Restart the Print Spooler service via Windows Administrative Tools if the print queue is stuck. You can also run the HP Print and Scan Doctor utility (Windows only) to automatically diagnose and fix the issue.
Poor Print Quality or Faded Outputexpand_more
Check the estimated ink levels from the HP printer software or control panel display to see if either the HP 65 black or tri-color cartridge is running low. In the printer software, open the printer toolbox via Print & Scan > Maintain Your Printer, then run 'Align Cartridges' and 'Print Diagnostic Information' from the Device Services tab. If color blocks on the diagnostic page show streaks or missing sections, run the 'Clean Cartridges' function. Always use HP-recommended paper with the ColorLok logo for best results.
Wireless Connection Problemsexpand_more
Press the Wireless button and Information button simultaneously to print a Wireless Network Test Report and Network Configuration Page. This report shows wireless signal strength, detected networks, and diagnostic results. If there is no signal, ensure your wireless router is powered on and move the printer closer to the router. If the Wireless light blinks fast for three seconds and then turns off, the wireless capability may be disabled — press the Wireless button to re-enable it. You can also use the HP Print and Scan Doctor on Windows to automatically resolve network connectivity issues.

Important Safety Instructions

  • Always turn the HP DeskJet 2625 off using the Power button and wait for the Power light to go out before unplugging — this prevents HP 65 cartridge nozzles from drying out.
  • Check estimated ink levels regularly from the HP printer software or the Ink Level icons on the control panel display, and keep a replacement HP 65 or HP 65XL cartridge on hand to avoid printing delays.
  • Align the cartridges after each replacement by loading plain white paper and using the 'Align Cartridges' option in the printer toolbox under Print & Scan > Maintain Your Printer.
  • Clean the scanner glass periodically with a soft, lint-free cloth to ensure accurate scans and copies — even small smudges on the scanner glass can affect copy quality on the HP DeskJet 2625.
