HP DeskJet 2624 Manual — Setup, Troubleshooting & WiFi Guide
The HP DeskJet 2624 is a compact wireless all-in-one inkjet printer designed for home use, offering print, scan, and copy functionality at an affordable price. It connects seamlessly to your network via Wi-Fi and supports mobile printing through the HP Smart app on iOS, Android, and Windows 10. This page covers everything from initial setup and paper loading to cartridge maintenance, error codes, and wireless troubleshooting.
Product Setup
Unbox and Power On
Remove all packaging materials and tape from the printer, including any tape covering the cartridge access door. Connect the power cord to the rear power connection port and press the Power button to turn the printer on. Wait for the printer to complete its startup sequence before proceeding.
Install HP 65 Ink Cartridges
Open the cartridge access door and wait for the print carriage to move to the center of the printer. Remove the plastic tape from each cartridge using the pull tab, then slide the tri-color cartridge into the left slot and the black cartridge into the right slot until each clicks into place. Close the cartridge access door to complete installation.
Load Paper into the Input Tray
Raise the input tray and slide the paper-width guide to the left. Insert a stack of plain white paper with the short edge down and print side up, then slide it down until it stops. Adjust the paper-width guide snugly against the paper edge, then lower the output tray and pull out the output tray extender.
Install Software and Connect Wirelessly
Download and install the HP printer software or the HP Smart app from 123.hp.com on your Windows, iOS, or Android device. Follow the on-screen instructions to connect the HP DeskJet 2624 to your wireless network. Once connected, the Wireless light on the control panel will remain solid, confirming a successful connection.
Pro-Tip: Do not touch the copper-colored contacts or the ink nozzles. Touching these parts can result in clogs, ink failure, and bad electrical connections.
WiFi Connection Guide
Wireless Network Setup (WPS)
Connect the HP DeskJet 2624 directly to your home Wi-Fi router using WPS push-button mode. Press the Wireless button and the Information button together on the printer control panel, then press the WPS button on your router within two minutes. The Wireless light will stop blinking and remain solid once the printer has successfully joined your network.
Wi-Fi Direct Mobile Printing
Wi-Fi Direct lets you print from a smartphone or tablet without connecting to a router. Press and hold the Wireless button and the Resume button together for three seconds to enable Wi-Fi Direct on the 2624. Then search for the printer's Wi-Fi Direct network name on your mobile device and connect to it — up to five devices can be connected simultaneously via Wi-Fi Direct.

Important Safety Instructions
- Always turn the HP DeskJet 2624 off using the Power button and wait for the light to go out before unplugging — this parks the cartridges properly and prevents the HP 65 nozzles from drying out.
- Check estimated ink levels regularly via the HP printer software Estimated Levels tab or the ink icons on the control panel display, and keep a spare HP 65XL cartridge on hand to avoid printing delays.
- Run the Align Cartridges and Clean Cartridges tools from the printer software toolbox periodically, or whenever you notice streaks, faded colors, or misaligned text in your printouts.
- Do not leave a removed cartridge outside the printer for more than 30 minutes — exposed nozzles dry out and clog quickly; reseal or reinstall the cartridge as soon as possible to preserve its lifespan.
