HP DeskJet 2732 Manual — Setup, Troubleshooting & WiFi Guide
The HP DeskJet 2732 is a compact all-in-one inkjet printer with wireless connectivity and mobile printing capabilities. This guide covers setup via HP Smart app, WiFi Direct printing without a router, cartridge management, and troubleshooting common issues to get you printing quickly.
Product Setup
Connect Using HP Smart App
Download the HP Smart app on your iOS, Android, Windows, or Mac device and ensure Bluetooth is enabled. Power on your printer and place it in Auto Wireless Connect (AWC) mode by pressing the Wireless and Cancel buttons together for 3 seconds until the light blinks blue.
Select Your Network
Open HP Smart and tap the Plus icon to add your printer. Select your printer from the detected list or tap 'Add Printer' to manually connect. The app will guide you through entering your WiFi network credentials and completing the setup process.
Verify Connection
Once connected, the Wireless button light will glow steady blue and Signal Bars will display on the control panel. Your printer is now ready to print wirelessly from any connected device on your network. Create or sign into your HP account for HP+ features and automatic firmware updates.
Pro-Tip: Do not touch the copper-colored contacts or the ink nozzles. Touching these parts can result in clogs, ink failure, and bad electrical connections.
WiFi Connection Guide
WiFi with Router (WPS)
Press and hold the Wireless button for 3 seconds to start WPS Push Button mode, then press the WPS button on your router. Connection completes in approximately 2 minutes. Alternatively, use the PIN method by pressing Wireless and Information buttons together for 5 seconds to print a PIN code and manually enter it in your router configuration.
WiFi Direct (No Router)
Press Wireless and Resume buttons together for 3 seconds to enable WiFi Direct. Up to 5 devices can connect directly to your printer using the WiFi Direct name (DIRECT-**-HP DeskJet 2732). Use the Information button to print your WiFi Direct password, or configure security settings through the Embedded Web Server for enhanced control.

Important Safety Instructions
- Always turn off the printer using the Power button and wait until internal motion stops before unplugging to protect cartridges from drying out
- Keep cartridges in original sealed packaging at room temperature (15-35°C) until installation; remove plastic tape immediately before inserting into the printer
- Do not clean the printhead unnecessarily as it wastes ink and shortens cartridge life; use the HP Smart app or printer software maintenance tools only when print quality degrades
- Replace missing cartridges immediately and never leave cartridges unprotected outside the printer for more than 30 minutes to prevent nozzle clogging
- Transport the printer flat and level with cartridges installed; avoid placing on its side, back, front, or top to prevent ink leakage and internal damage
