Print Quality Issuesexpand_more
Verify you are using original HP 65 or HP 65XL cartridges. Load high-quality HP paper or ColorLok standard paper and ensure it is flat. Check estimated ink levels in HP Smart or the printer software—low ink causes faded colors. Use the printer software to align cartridges by going to Tools > Device Setup & Software > Maintain Your Printer > Align Cartridges. If issues persist, print a diagnostics page to identify color block defects and run the Clean Cartridges function.

Important Safety Instructions

  • Always turn off the printer using the Power button and wait for internal motion to stop before unplugging to protect cartridges from drying out
  • Keep cartridges in original sealed packaging at room temperature (15-35°C) until installation
  • When transporting the printer, ensure cartridges remain installed and the printer sits flat to prevent ink leaking
  • Do not clean the printhead unnecessarily as it wastes ink—only clean when print quality becomes unacceptable
  • If removing a cartridge, reinstall it within 30 minutes to prevent nozzles from drying out and clogging
