Printer Won't Printexpand_more
Verify the printer is powered on and paper is loaded in the input tray. Check that the printer is not paused or offline by accessing Devices and Printers on your computer. Ensure the printer is set as your default printer. If using a wireless connection, confirm the connection is active and restart the print spooler if necessary. For Windows, use HP Print and Scan Doctor to diagnose connection issues automatically.
Paper Jamsexpand_more
Press Cancel button to attempt automatic clearing. For manual clearing, remove all paper from the input tray and check the paper path using a flashlight. Open the cartridge access door and check for obstructions. For jams underneath, turn off the printer, flip it over, open the cleanout door on the bottom, and remove jammed paper. Always use both hands to gently pull paper to avoid tearing.
Poor Print Qualityexpand_more
Verify you're using original HP 65 or HP 65XL cartridges. Check ink levels in HP Smart or the control panel—low ink affects quality. Use high-quality paper such as HP paper meeting ColorLok standard or HP Advanced Photo Paper. Run the cartridge alignment utility from the HP printer software's Maintain Your Printer section. If issues persist, clean the cartridges through the software's Device Services tab.
Wireless Connection Issuesexpand_more
Ensure your wireless router is powered on and the printer's wireless radio is enabled (Wireless button light should be steady blue). Check the Signal Bars icon on the display—if only 1-2 bars show, move the printer closer to the router (within 30 meters/100 feet). Print the Wireless Network Test Report by pressing Wireless and Information buttons together to identify specific connection failures. Restore network settings by holding Wireless and Cancel buttons for 3 seconds, then reconnect using HP Smart.
Cartridge Error Messagesexpand_more
Remove the cartridges and verify the protective plastic tape has been completely removed from both the cartridge and its contacts. Clean the electrical contacts (small gold dots) on both the cartridge and printer using a dry, lint-free cloth. Reinsert cartridges firmly until they click into place. If errors continue, try replacing the cartridges with new HP 65 or HP 65XL originals. Check the HP Smart app for detailed error messages and follow recommended solutions.
