HP DeskJet 2724 Manual — Setup, Troubleshooting & WiFi Guide
The HP DeskJet 2724 is a wireless all-in-one color inkjet printer designed for home and small office use. This guide covers essential setup procedures, Wi-Fi connectivity options including Wi-Fi Direct, and comprehensive troubleshooting for print quality, paper jams, and network issues.
Product Setup
Download HP Smart App
Download the HP Smart app on your iOS, Android, Windows, or Mac device. This app simplifies printer setup and provides access to printing, copying, scanning, and troubleshooting features. Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on mobile devices for faster setup.
Connect to Your Network
Press and hold the Wireless button for 3 seconds to enter Auto Wireless Connect (AWC) mode. The printer will search for networks and display the Wi-Fi status light blinking blue. Select your network from the HP Smart app and enter your Wi-Fi password.
Verify Connection & Install Cartridges
Once connected, the Wireless button light will glow steady blue. Install HP 65 or HP 65XL cartridges into the correct colored slots. Remove the protective plastic tape before installation and ensure cartridges click into place securely.
Load Paper & Test Print
Load plain letter or A4 paper into the input tray, adjusting the paper-width guide snugly against the paper. Send a test print job from the HP Smart app or your computer to verify the printer is functioning correctly.
Pro-Tip: Do not touch the copper-colored contacts or the ink nozzles. Touching these parts can result in clogs, ink failure, and bad electrical connections.
WiFi Connection Guide
Wi-Fi Network Setup
Connect to your existing wireless router using the HP Smart app or WPS button method. Supports both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz networks. The printer maintains internet connectivity for cloud features and firmware updates.
Wi-Fi Direct Connection
Enable Wi-Fi Direct to print wirelessly from up to 5 devices without a router. Press and hold the Wireless and Resume buttons together for 3 seconds. Find the Wi-Fi Direct name (DIRECT-**-HP DeskJet 2700e series) and password by pressing the Information button.
