Pro-Tip: Do not touch the copper-colored contacts or the ink nozzles. Touching these parts can result in clogs, ink failure, and bad electrical connections.

router

Connect via Wi-Fi Router (WPS)

If your router supports WPS, press and hold the Wireless button on the DeskJet 2734e for at least 3 seconds, then press the WPS button on your router within 2 minutes. The Wireless button light will glow steady blue once connected. Alternatively, use the PIN method by holding the Wireless and Information buttons for 5 seconds to print a WPS PIN code.

wifi_tethering

Connect via Wi-Fi Direct (No Router)

Wi-Fi Direct lets you print straight from a phone, tablet, or laptop without needing a wireless router. Press and hold the Wireless button and Resume button together for 3 seconds to enable Wi-Fi Direct on the 2734e, then connect your device to the network named 'DIRECT-**-HP DeskJet 2700e series'. Up to 5 devices can connect simultaneously via Wi-Fi Direct.

Printer Won't Connect to Wi-Fiexpand_more
Make sure your wireless router is powered on and that the Wireless button light on the printer is blinking blue (setup mode). Press the Wireless and Information buttons simultaneously to print a Wireless Network Test Report — check the Diagnostics Results section for any failures. Ensure the printer is within 30 metres (100 ft) of your router, and that you are connecting to a 2.4GHz or 5GHz network. To reset network settings, press and hold the Wireless button and Cancel button together for 3 seconds, then re-run setup via the HP Smart app.
Paper Jam — How to Clearexpand_more
Start by removing all paper from the input tray and pressing the Cancel button to let the printer attempt an automatic jam clearance. If the jam persists, open the cartridge access door, wait for the carriage to stop moving, then power off and unplug the printer before removing any jammed paper with both hands gently. For jams underneath the printer, turn it over and open the cleanout door on the bottom by pulling both tabs. Control panel error code E4 with a blinking Resume light indicates an active paper jam.
HP+ Printer Not Printing or Offlineexpand_more
The HP DeskJet 2734e is an HP+ printer and must remain connected to the internet via Wi-Fi or Ethernet at all times to function fully. Verify your internet connection is active and that the Wireless button light glows steady blue. Additionally, HP+ printers require Original HP 67 or HP 67XL cartridges — non-Original HP or refilled cartridges will prevent the printer from operating. Check that your HP account is active and signed in via the HP Smart app.
Poor Print Quality or Faded Outputexpand_more
First, check estimated ink levels in the HP Smart app or printer software — replace HP 67 or HP 67XL cartridges if low. Open the printer software, go to Print & Scan > Maintain Your Printer, and run 'Align Cartridges' to fix misalignment issues. If color blocks on a printed diagnostics page show white lines or missing sections, run the 'Clean Cartridges' routine from the Device Services tab. Always use HP-recommended paper and ensure the correct paper type and quality settings are selected before printing.
Cartridge Error — Ink Alert Light Blinkingexpand_more
An E0 error code (letter E and number 0 blinking) alongside a blinking Ink Alert light indicates a cartridge problem. Open the cartridge access door and remove the affected cartridge. Check that the protective plastic tape has been fully removed from the cartridge contacts, then firmly reinsert until it clicks. If the error persists, clean the gold-colored electrical contacts on the cartridge and inside the printer using a dry lint-free cloth. Error code showing one Ink Level icon empty with the Error icon may indicate a missing or improperly seated HP 67 cartridge.

Important Safety Instructions

  • Always turn off the HP DeskJet 2734e using the Power button and wait for it to fully shut down before unplugging — this parks the cartridges and prevents the HP 67 nozzles from drying out.
  • Replace missing HP 67 or HP 67XL cartridges as soon as possible; never run the 2734e for extended periods with a cartridge absent, as this can cause ink system damage.
  • If you remove a cartridge for any reason, reinstall it within 30 minutes — exposed nozzles dry and clog quickly when left unprotected outside the printer.
  • Periodically align cartridges via HP Smart or the printer toolbox (Print & Scan > Maintain Your Printer > Align Cartridges) after installing new HP 67 cartridges to ensure the best possible print quality.
