Download HP Smart & Connect to Wi-Fi

Before setting up your printer, make sure your computer or mobile device is connected to your wireless network and you have your Wi-Fi password ready. Download the HP Smart app on iOS, Android, Windows, or Mac from 123.hp.com to begin the guided setup process.

2

Put the Printer in Auto Wireless Connect (AWC) Mode

Power on the printer — it automatically enters AWC setup mode on first use, indicated by a blinking blue light next to the Wireless button and cycling Signal Bars on the display. If needed, press the Wireless button and Cancel button together for 3 seconds to re-enter AWC mode.

3

Add Printer via HP Smart App

Open the HP Smart app and tap or click the Plus (+) icon on the home screen. Select your DeskJet 2755e from the list, or tap 'Add Printer' if it does not appear. Follow the on-screen instructions — on iOS and Android, ensure Bluetooth is enabled to speed up the pairing process.

4

Confirm Connection & Install Cartridges

Once connected successfully, the light next to the Wireless button will glow steady blue. Install your HP 67 or HP 67XL cartridges by opening the cartridge access door, removing the plastic tape from each cartridge, and sliding them firmly into the correct color-coded slots until they click into place.

Pro-Tip: Do not touch the copper-colored contacts or the ink nozzles. Touching these parts can result in clogs, ink failure, and bad electrical connections.

router

Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS)

If your router has a WPS button, press and hold the Wireless button on the printer for at least 3 seconds, then press the WPS button on your router. The printer will connect within 2 minutes, confirmed by a steady blue Wireless light. Alternatively, use the PIN method by holding the Wireless and Information buttons together for 5 seconds to print a WPS PIN, then enter it into your router's configuration utility.

Wi-Fi Direct (No Router Needed)

Wi-Fi Direct lets you print wirelessly from a phone, tablet, or computer without connecting to an existing network — up to 5 devices simultaneously. Enable it by pressing and holding the Wireless and Resume buttons together for 3 seconds on the printer control panel. Find the Wi-Fi Direct name (e.g. DIRECT-**-HP DeskJet 2700e series) and password by pressing the Information button to print a printer info page.

HP DeskJet 2755e Won't Print (HP+ Mode)expand_more
HP+ printers require a constant internet connection and Original HP cartridges to function. Verify the printer is connected to Wi-Fi (steady blue Wireless light) and that you have installed genuine HP 67 or HP 67XL cartridges — not refilled or third-party cartridges. If recently disconnected due to a power outage or router issue, reconnect via the HP Smart app and check that your HP account is active.
Paper Jam in HP DeskJet 2755eexpand_more
Start by clearing the input tray of all paper, then use a flashlight to check for debris in the paper path. Press the Cancel button to let the printer attempt automatic clearing. If the jam is in the cartridge access area, open the door, power off the printer, unplug the power cord, and carefully slide the carriage to the right to remove any obstruction. For jams underneath the printer, use the cleanout door on the bottom — pull both tabs to open it, remove the jammed paper, and snap the door shut before restarting.
Poor Print Quality or Faded Colorsexpand_more
First, check estimated ink levels in the HP Smart app or printer software — replace the HP 67 or HP 67XL cartridge if low. Then align the cartridges via the printer software: go to Print & Scan > Maintain Your Printer > Align Cartridges, and load plain white letter or A4 paper before printing the alignment page. If color blocks on a diagnostic page show white lines or missing sections, clean the cartridges using the 'Clean Cartridges' option in the Device Services tab of the printer toolbox.
Wireless Connection Issuesexpand_more
Check that the Wireless button light is steady blue — blinking indicates the printer is still in setup mode or trying to connect. Press the Wireless and Information buttons simultaneously to print a Wireless Network Test Report and verify the SSID matches your network. Ensure the printer is within 30 metres (100 feet) of your router. If issues persist, restore network settings by pressing the Wireless and Cancel buttons together for 3 seconds, then reconnect using the HP Smart app. Windows users can also run the HP Print and Scan Doctor utility.
Cartridge Error Codes (E0, E3, E6)expand_more
Error code E0 (blinking E and 0) with blinking Ink Level icons means a cartridge problem — remove cartridges, ensure all plastic tape is removed, clean the gold electrical contacts with a dry lint-free cloth, and reinsert. Error E3 means the print carriage has stalled — open the cartridge access door, clear any obstruction, move the carriage to the right, and press Resume. Error E6 indicates a general printer fault — unplug the power cord, wait one minute, reconnect, and power on. If any error persists, contact HP Support.

Important Safety Instructions

  • Always turn off the HP DeskJet 2755e using the Power button and wait for all internal motion to stop before unplugging — this prevents the HP 67/67XL cartridge nozzles from drying out and clogging.
  • Keep cartridges in their original sealed packaging at room temperature (15–35°C / 59–95°F) until ready to install, and never leave an installed cartridge outside the printer for more than 30 minutes.
  • Regularly align the cartridges via HP Smart or the printer software (Print & Scan > Maintain Your Printer > Align Cartridges) to maintain consistent print quality, especially after replacing an HP 67 or HP 67XL cartridge.
  • Do not overfill the input tray and remove printed pages from the output tray frequently to prevent paper jams — ensure all paper loaded is the same size and type with the paper-width guide fitted snugly without bending the paper.
