Paper Jam in Input Trayexpand_more
Remove all paper from the input tray and lift the input tray shield. Use a flashlight to locate and remove any jammed paper or foreign objects, pulling gently with both hands to avoid tearing. Press the Cancel button to allow the printer to clear the jam automatically. The input tray shield prevents debris from entering the paper path—do not remove it.
Cartridge Error (E0 Code)expand_more
If the Ink Level icon blinks with the E0 error code and Ink Alert light on, remove the indicated cartridge and verify all plastic tape has been removed. Wipe the gold electrical contacts with a lint-free cloth. Reinstall the cartridge firmly until it clicks into place. If the error persists, clean the printer's cartridge contacts and try again. Replace the cartridge if issues continue.
Wireless Connection Not Workingexpand_more
Verify the wireless router and printer are powered on. Check the Signal Bars icon on the control panel—if only 1-2 bars show, move the printer within 30 m (100 ft) of the router. Press Wireless + Information buttons together to print the Wireless Network Test Report. Review the DIAGNOSTICS RESULTS section for failed tests and follow recommended steps. Use HP Print and Scan Doctor utility for additional Windows diagnostics.
Print Quality Issues (Faded or White Lines)expand_more
Verify you're using genuine HP 65 or HP 65XL cartridges. Check that your paper type matches the Media setting in printer software—use high-quality HP paper or ColorLok standard paper for best results. Align the cartridges through the printer toolbox (Print & Scan > Maintain Your Printer > Align Cartridges). If issues persist, print a diagnostics page to identify color block defects, then run the Clean Cartridges utility.
Unable to Print (No Output)expand_more
Ensure the printer is powered on and paper is loaded in the input tray. Verify the printer is not paused or offline by checking the Devices and Printers settings. Confirm the DeskJet 4175e is set as your default printer (marked with a check mark). Restart the print spooler and check for error messages in HP Smart app. Clear the print queue through printer settings if documents are stuck, then restart your computer and retry printing.

Important Safety Instructions

  • Always turn off the printer using the Power button and wait for internal motion to stop before unplugging to protect cartridges from drying out
  • Keep HP 65 and HP 65XL cartridges in original sealed packages until needed and store at room temperature (15-35°C or 59-95°F)
  • Leave cartridges installed during printer transport and keep the printer flat—never place on its side, back, front, or top
  • Do not clean the printhead unnecessarily as it wastes ink; only clean when print quality becomes unacceptable through the Maintain Your Printer utility
  • Remove printed papers from the output tray frequently and load only one paper size/type in the input tray to prevent jams
