Download HP Smart App

Visit 123.hp.com or your device's app store to download the HP Smart app. Available for iOS, Android, Windows, and Mac devices. The app streamlines setup and enables wireless printing, scanning, and copying.

Prepare Your Network

Ensure your wireless router is powered on and you know your Wi-Fi password. Your computer or mobile device should already be connected to the network. For Bluetooth-enabled devices, turn on Bluetooth to speed up the setup process.

Enter Auto Wireless Connect Mode

Press the Wireless button and Cancel button together for 3 seconds. The light next to the Wireless button will blink blue, and signal bars will cycle on the display, indicating the printer is ready for setup.

Complete Setup in HP Smart

Open the HP Smart app and tap the Plus icon to add your printer. Select the 4133e from the list and follow on-screen instructions. Once connected, the Wireless light will glow steady blue.

Pro-Tip: Do not touch the copper-colored contacts or the ink nozzles. Touching these parts can result in clogs, ink failure, and bad electrical connections.

Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS)

For routers with WPS capability. Press the WPS button on your router, then hold the Wireless button on the printer for 3 seconds. Connection establishes within approximately 2 minutes.

Check the input tray, output tray, cartridge access area, and bottom cleanout door. Remove all jammed paper carefully by pulling with both hands gently. Check for torn pieces inside. Press the Wireless button and Cancel button together for 3 seconds to restore settings. Close all doors firmly and press Resume to continue printing.

Remove and recheck both cartridges for protective plastic tape. Verify tape is completely removed before reinserting. Clean cartridge electrical contacts with a dry lint-free cloth. Ensure cartridges are HP 65 or HP 65XL originals. If error persists, turn printer off and on. Consider replacing cartridges if contacts are damaged.

Verify router and printer are powered on. Check that the Wireless button light is steady blue. Press the Wireless button and Information button together to print the Wireless Network Test Report. Use original HP 65/65XL cartridges only. Load letter or A4 plain white paper. In printer software, select appropriate paper type and quality settings.
