Paper Jam or Paper-Feed Issuesexpand_more
Press the Cancel button to attempt automatic clearance. For input tray jams, gently pull paper out and reload. For output tray jams, pull paper gently from the output tray. For cartridge access area jams, turn off the printer, open the cartridge access door, slide the carriage to the right, remove jammed paper, close the door, and turn the printer back on. Do not overfill the input tray, remove printed papers frequently, and ensure paper lays flat with no bent edges.
Cartridge Not Recognized or Low Ink Errorexpand_more
Verify the protective plastic tape has been removed from new cartridges. Remove and reinsert cartridges firmly until they click. Check that cartridges match the color and icon of their slots. If the Ink Alert light blinks, clean the cartridge contacts with a dry lint-free cloth. Replace cartridges if the ink level drops to critical levels and print quality becomes unacceptable. Avoid using refilled or remanufactured cartridges as they may cause detection errors.
Printer Not Printing or Unable to Printexpand_more
Verify the printer is turned on and paper is loaded in the input tray. Check for error messages in the HP printer software and resolve them. For USB connection, disconnect and reconnect the cable. For wireless, confirm the connection is active. Use Windows Control Panel or System Preferences to verify the printer is not paused or set offline. Ensure the printer is set as the default printer. Restart the print spooler service and clear the print queue if jobs are stuck. If issues persist, restart your computer and try printing again.
Poor Print Qualityexpand_more
Confirm you are using original HP cartridges with adequate ink levels. Select the correct paper type in printer software settings—use high-quality HP paper or ColorLok-certified plain paper for best results. Ensure paper is flat and not curled. Run cartridge alignment from the printer toolbox. Print a diagnostics page to check for streaks or missing colors. If issues appear, clean the cartridges from the printer software Device Services tab. Store specialty photo paper in resealable bags on flat surfaces to prevent curling.
Wireless Connection Issuesexpand_more
Press the Wireless button and Information button together to run the wireless network test and print a network configuration report. If the Wireless light blinks with the Wireless Attention icon on, there is no wireless signal—move the printer closer to your router and ensure it is powered on. If the Wireless light blinks but appears disconnected, the printer has a connection problem; review the test report for solutions. For Wi-Fi Direct issues, ensure the Wi-Fi Direct button is active and mobile devices have a compatible printing app installed. Use the HP Print and Scan Doctor utility (Windows only) to diagnose and fix connection problems automatically.
