Paper Jam - How to Clearexpand_more
Press the Cancel button to attempt automatic clearance. If unsuccessful, manually remove jammed paper from the input tray, output tray, or cartridge access area. For cartridge area jams, turn off the printer, open the cartridge access door, slide the print carriage to the right, remove the jammed paper, close the door, and restart. Do not use tools to remove paper; always use caution. Prevent future jams by not overfilling the tray, removing printed papers frequently, and ensuring paper is flat and uncrumpled.
Cartridge Problems - Low Ink or Error Messagesexpand_more
Check the Ink Alert light and Ink Level icons on the control panel to identify which cartridge has an issue. If you receive a cartridge error message, remove the cartridges and verify the plastic tape has been removed completely. Reinstall cartridges securely, ensuring they click into place. If the error persists, clean the cartridge and printer contacts with a dry, lint-free cloth. For the HP 65 and HP 65XL cartridges, order replacements from hp.com/buy/supplies when ink levels are low. Do not replace cartridges until print quality becomes unacceptable.
Printer Not Printing - Connection Issuesexpand_more
Verify the printer is powered on with paper loaded in the input tray. For USB connections, disconnect and reconnect the cable. For wireless, confirm the Wireless light is on and the printer shows connection status icons. Check that the printer is not paused by accessing Devices and Printers on Windows and ensuring "Pause Printing" is unchecked. Verify the printer is set as the default printer. Restart the print spooler through Administrative Tools > Services. If still unable to print, restart your computer and clear the print queue through Devices and Printers.
Poor Print Quality - Faded or Streaky Outputexpand_more
Ensure you are using original HP 65 or 65XL cartridges and high-quality paper with the ColorLok logo. Check that you selected the correct paper type and quality settings in the printer software. Load letter or A4 plain white paper and print a diagnostics page from the Maintain Your Printer toolbox to review color and black boxes for streaks or missing portions. If defects appear, run the Clean Cartridges function from Device Services. If quality remains poor after cleaning, align the cartridges using the Align Cartridges option. Always turn off the printer using the Power button and wait until the light extinguishes to protect cartridges from drying out.
Wireless Connection Drops or Will Not Connectexpand_more
Press the Wireless button and Information button together to print the wireless network test report and review it for connection issues. If the Wireless light blinks with the Wireless Attention icon, ensure your router is powered on and move the printer closer to it. Check that wireless capability is enabled in printer settings through the embedded web server. If the Wireless light blinks fast for three seconds then turns off, wireless is disabled—contact your printer administrator. For Wi-Fi Direct issues, press the Wi-Fi Direct button to ensure it is enabled, search for the printer\'s Wi-Fi Direct name from your device, and enter the password when prompted.
