This guide covers complete setup instructions, wireless connectivity, cartridge management, and comprehensive troubleshooting solutions to keep your printer running smoothly.
Product Setup
Load Paper into Input Tray
Raise the input tray and extender, insert a stack of paper with the short edge down and print side up, then slide the paper-width guide to fit snugly against the edge of the paper. For envelopes or photo paper, insert on the far-right side of the input tray.
Install Ink Cartridges
Open the cartridge access door and wait for the print carriage to center. Remove the plastic tape from new cartridges using the pull tab, then slide each cartridge into its slot at a slight upward angle until it clicks into place. Close the cartridge access door to complete installation.
Connect to Power and Computer
Connect the power cord to a functioning outlet and plug the USB cable into your computer, or configure wireless connectivity using the control panel buttons. The printer will initialize and be ready for use once the Power button light illuminates solid.
Install Printer Software
Install the HP printer software from the included disc or download from hp.com. Once installed, access the software through your Start menu (Windows) or Applications folder (macOS) to configure print preferences, check ink levels, and perform maintenance tasks.
Pro-Tip: Do not touch the copper-colored contacts or the ink nozzles. Touching these parts can result in clogs, ink failure, and bad electrical connections.
