Load Paper into Input Tray

Raise the input tray and slide the paper-width guide to the left. Insert paper with the short edge down and print side up, then adjust the guide snugly against the paper edge.

Install Ink Cartridges

Open the cartridge access door and insert HP 65 or HP 65XL cartridges into their color-matched slots. Ensure cartridges snap firmly into place and remove any plastic protective tape before use.

Power On & Connect

Press the Power button to turn on the printer. Use the Wireless button to connect to your network, or install the HP printer software for guided setup via USB or Wi-Fi.

Configure Default Paper Size

Open the embedded web server and navigate to Settings > Tray and Paper Management to set your default paper size. The printer automatically detects large, medium, or small paper widths.

Pro-Tip: Do not touch the copper-colored contacts or the ink nozzles. Touching these parts can result in clogs, ink failure, and bad electrical connections.

Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS)

Press and hold the Wireless button for 3+ seconds, then press your router's WPS button within 2 minutes. The Wireless light will stop blinking when connected. Supports PIN method as alternative.

Wi-Fi Direct (No Router)

Press the Wi-Fi Direct button to enable direct wireless connection. Up to 5 devices can connect simultaneously. Find the Wi-Fi Direct name and password by pressing the Information button.

Press Cancel button to attempt automatic clearing. If unsuccessful, gently pull paper from the input tray. Verify no foreign objects are in the paper path and reload paper.
