This guide covers complete setup instructions, wireless configuration methods, cartridge management, and comprehensive troubleshooting solutions to keep your printer running smoothly.
Product Setup
Load Paper and Media
Raise the input tray, slide the paper-width guide to the left, and insert a stack of paper with the short edge down and print side up. Slide the paper-width guide right until it stops at the paper edge. Pull out the output tray and tray extender.
Install Ink Cartridges
Open the cartridge access door and wait for the print carriage to move to the center. Insert HP 65 or HP 65XL cartridges into their corresponding colored slots until they snap into place. Remove protective plastic tape from each cartridge before installation.
Connect to Power and Install Software
Connect the power cord to a functioning outlet and press the Power button. Download and install the HP printer software from 123.hp.com on your Windows or macOS computer following the on-screen installation prompts.
Configure Wireless Connection
Use WPS push-button or PIN method to connect to your wireless network, or run the HP printer software wireless setup wizard. Verify the Wireless light stops blinking and remains solid, indicating successful connection to your 802.11b/g/n network.
Pro-Tip: Do not touch the copper-colored contacts or the ink nozzles. Touching these parts can result in clogs, ink failure, and bad electrical connections.
WiFi Connection Guide
Connect via Wi-Fi Router
Use Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS) with push-button or PIN method, or run the HP printer software to connect your DeskJet 3631 to your wireless 802.11b/g/n network and access it throughout your home.
