HP DeskJet 3630 Manual — Setup, Troubleshooting & WiFi Guide
The HP DeskJet 3630 is a versatile all-in-one printer combining printing, scanning, and copying with wireless 802.11b/g/n connectivity. This comprehensive guide covers initial setup, control panel features, wireless configuration, and detailed troubleshooting solutions to keep your printer running smoothly.
Product Setup
Load Paper into Input Tray
Raise the input tray, slide the paper-width guide left, insert paper with the short edge down and print side up, then adjust the guide snugly against the paper edge. Pull out the output tray and tray extender before printing.
Install Ink Cartridges
Open the cartridge access door and wait for the carriage to move to center. Remove plastic tape from both HP 65 or HP 65XL cartridges, insert them into the correct color-coded slots, and ensure they snap securely into place.
Connect via WiFi or USB
For wireless setup, press the Wireless button and use WPS push-button or PIN method with your router. For USB connection, simply plug the cable into the printer's USB port. Install HP printer software from 123.hp.com to complete configuration.
Verify Connection Status
Check the control panel display for wireless status icons and ensure the Wireless light is on steady (not blinking). The printer enters Sleep mode after 5 minutes of inactivity to save power.
Pro-Tip: Do not touch the copper-colored contacts or the ink nozzles. Touching these parts can result in clogs, ink failure, and bad electrical connections.

Important Safety Instructions
- Always turn off the printer using the Power button and wait for the light to go out to protect cartridges from drying out
- Do not remove plastic tape from HP 65/65XL cartridges until ready to install them; tape reduces ink evaporation
- Align cartridges regularly from the printer software to maintain print quality
- Clean cartridge contacts only when errors occur; excessive cleaning wastes ink and shortens printhead life
- Load only one paper type and size at a time; ensure paper is flat and edges are not bent or torn
- Remove printed papers from the output tray frequently to prevent jams
