HP DeskJet 2545 Manual — Setup, Troubleshooting & WiFi Guide
The HP DeskJet 2545 is a versatile all-in-one inkjet printer offering wireless printing, copying, and scanning for everyday home use. It supports Wi-Fi Direct and WPS connectivity, making it easy to print from computers and mobile devices without cables. This page covers setup instructions, wireless configuration, troubleshooting steps, and maintenance tips drawn directly from the official HP DeskJet 2545 manual.
Product Setup
Unbox and Power On
Remove all packaging materials and tape from the printer and ink cartridges. Plug the power cord into the printer and a wall outlet, then press the On button to power on the HP DeskJet 2545. Wait for the printer to complete its initialization sequence before proceeding.
Install Ink Cartridges
Open the cartridge access door and wait for the print carriage to move to the center. Remove the pink protective tape from both the tri-color (HP 65) and black (HP 65) cartridges, then insert each into the correct color-coded slot and press firmly until they snap into place. Close the cartridge access door to begin.
Load Paper and Open Output Tray
Load plain white letter or A4 paper into the input tray, adjusting the paper-width guide so it fits snugly without bending the paper. Make sure the output tray is open before printing, as the printer will not begin a print job with the output tray closed. Do not overfill the input tray to prevent paper jams.
Install Software and Connect
Insert the printer software CD into your computer or download the latest drivers from hp.com/support. Follow the on-screen instructions and select either a Wireless or USB connection when prompted on the Connection Options screen. Once setup is complete, align the ink cartridges through the printer toolbox for optimal print quality.
Pro-Tip: Do not touch the copper-colored contacts or the ink nozzles. Touching these parts can result in clogs, ink failure, and bad electrical connections.
WiFi Connection Guide
WPS Push Button Setup
Press and hold the Wireless button on the HP DeskJet 2545 for more than 3 seconds until the Wireless status light begins blinking, then press the WPS button on your router within 2 minutes. The printer will automatically connect to your 2.4GHz wireless network and the light will stop blinking once the connection is established. Note that the DeskJet 2545 only supports 2.4GHz networks.
HP Wireless Direct (No Router)
Press the Wireless Direct button on the printer control panel to enable HP Wireless Direct, which allows smartphones, tablets, and computers to connect directly to the printer without a wireless router. When first activated, an information page is printed with connection instructions and the Wireless Direct password. The Wireless Direct status light will remain solid when the feature is active.

Important Safety Instructions
- Always turn off the HP DeskJet 2545 using the On button and wait for the On button light to go out before unplugging — this prevents HP 65 cartridges from drying out.
- Do not open or remove the tape from HP 65 or HP 65XL cartridges until you are ready to install them, as the tape slows ink evaporation and preserves cartridge life.
- If you remove a cartridge from the printer for any reason, reinstall it as soon as possible — cartridges left unprotected outside the printer for more than 30 minutes risk printhead damage.
- Regularly align the ink cartridges using the Align Ink Cartridges option in the printer toolbox (Print & Scan > Maintain Your Printer) to ensure the best possible print quality from your DeskJet 2545.
