Unbox and Position the Printer

Remove all packaging tape and protective materials from the HP DeskJet 2500. Place the printer on a flat, stable surface near your computer with enough space to load paper and open the cartridge access door.

2

Connect via USB Cable

Plug the USB cable firmly from your computer directly into the HP DeskJet 2500, avoiding any USB hubs as these can cause connection issues. Ensure the connection is secure at both ends before proceeding.

3

Install Ink Cartridges

Open the cartridge access door and insert the HP 65 Black cartridge into the right slot and the HP 65 Tri-color cartridge into the left slot. Press each cartridge down firmly until it clicks into place, then close the access door.

4

Install Software and Print a Test Page

Insert the software CD or visit the HP support site to download the DeskJet D2500 series driver. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete installation, then print a test page to confirm everything is working correctly.

USB Direct Connection

The HP DeskJet 2500 connects to your computer via a standard USB cable. Make sure the cable is plugged directly into your computer and the printer without using a USB hub, as this can prevent the printer from being detected properly.

Printer Not Detected by Computerexpand_more
Ensure the USB cable is firmly connected directly from your computer to the printer without using a USB hub. If the problem persists, unplug the USB cable, reinsert the software CD, and follow the installation prompts again to reinstall the driver.
Poor Print Quality or Faded Outputexpand_more
Check the ink levels of your HP 65 Black and HP 65 Tri-color cartridges. Note that some residual ink may remain in the cartridge even when it appears empty. If cartridges are low, replace them with genuine HP 65 or HP 65XL cartridges for best results.
Paper Jam or Feed Issuesexpand_more
Make sure you are using paper within the recommended weight range for the HP DeskJet 2500. Remove any jammed paper gently by pulling it out in the direction of the paper path, then reload the paper tray and ensure the stack is aligned properly.
Cartridge Not Recognizedexpand_more
Remove the unrecognized cartridge and check that the copper contacts are clean and undamaged. Reinsert the cartridge firmly until it clicks. Note that using non-HP or refilled cartridges does not void your printer warranty, but HP may charge standard service fees if a non-HP cartridge causes a defect.
Printer Prints Blank Pagesexpand_more
Blank pages are often caused by a clogged printhead or depleted ink cartridges. Run the printhead cleaning utility from Programs > HP > Deskjet D2500 series on your computer. If ink cartridges are past their 'end of warranty' date printed on the cartridge, replace them with new HP 65 cartridges.
