Install Setup Cartridges

When first setting up your HP DeskJet 3070a, you must install the SETUP cartridges that shipped with your printer. These cartridges calibrate your printer before the first print job. Failure to install setup cartridges causes an error. After setup is complete, you can use regular HP 65 or HP 65XL cartridges.

2

Load Paper & Power On

Insert letter or A4 plain white paper into the input tray and ensure the paper-width guides fit snugly against the stack. Power on your printer and verify it recognizes the paper tray. Make sure the paper tray is fully open before beginning any print jobs.

3

Align Cartridges

The HP DeskJet 3070a will prompt you to align cartridges after installation. Load unused plain white paper, access the Printer Toolbox via Printer Actions > Maintenance Tasks, and click Align Ink Cartridges on the Device Services tab. Follow the on-screen instructions and load the alignment sheet as directed.

4

Install Printer Software

Complete the software installation from your product disc or downloaded driver package. This enables access to the Printer Software for checking ink levels, accessing the Printer Toolbox, setting print preferences, and ordering supplies online.

USB Connection

For USB connectivity, use a cable length of 3 meters (10 feet) or less to minimize injected noise. Connect the USB cable to your printer and computer, then install the printer software. This provides a direct connection without needing wireless network configuration.
