Install Print Cartridges

Open the cartridge door and wait for the print carriage to move to the center. Remove the plastic tape using the pink pull tab from each HP 65 or HP 65XL cartridge, then slide each cartridge into its slot until it clicks into place.

Close Cartridge Door

Once both cartridges are installed, close the cartridge door completely. The printer will not begin printing until the cartridge door is securely closed.

Load Paper and Align Cartridges

Load letter or A4 plain white paper into the input tray. Access the Printer Software, click Printer Actions, then Maintenance Tasks to align the cartridges for optimal print quality.

Connect USB Cable

Connect the USB cable to your computer and the DeskJet 3050. HP recommends using a USB cable less than or equal to 3 meters (10 feet) in length for best performance.

1. Press the cancel button to attempt automatic clearing. 2. Check the input tray first - gently pull jammed paper out. 3. Check the front output tray and gently remove paper. You may need to open the carriage door and slide the print carriage right. 4. For paper inside the printer, open the cleanout door on the bottom by pressing tabs on both sides. Remove jammed paper carefully and close the door until latches snap. 5. Press OK on the control panel to continue. Prevent future jams by not overfilling the tray, keeping paper flat, and using consistent paper sizes.

If both tri-color and black cartridge lights are blinking while power is on: 1. Verify the pink plastic tape has been completely removed from both cartridges. 2. Ensure both HP 65/65XL cartridges are fully installed and clicked into place. 3. Close the cartridge door completely. 4. If lights still blink, test each cartridge: remove the black cartridge and close the door. If the On light blinks, the tri-color cartridge needs replacement. If On light stays steady, replace the black cartridge. 5. Install cartridges in single-cartridge mode if needed until replacements arrive.
