WiFi Direct Printing

Use Wi-Fi Direct to print directly from your mobile device without connecting to a router. Check the wireless status light on the printer and refer to the HP Smart app for Wi-Fi Direct pairing instructions and connectivity help.

WiFi Connection Issuesexpand_more
If the wireless light is off or shows disconnected status, your printer may be out of range of the WiFi signal. Move the printer closer to your router, check that your network is broadcasting its SSID, and restart both the printer and router. If using a VPN or remote work network, configure your network settings in the HP Smart app.
Cartridge Error E0expand_more
Error E0 indicates an unusable cartridge. Check the HP Smart app or printer display for specific instructions on which cartridge needs replacement. Remove the defective cartridge and install a new HP 65 or 65XL cartridge, ensuring it clicks fully into place.
Cartridge Error E3 / Carriage Stallexpand_more
Error E3 indicates a carriage stall, typically caused by jammed paper or debris in the cartridge access area. Power off the printer, open the cartridge access door, and carefully remove any visible jams or obstructions. Gently move the carriage to the right if it is stuck, then close the door and restart the printer.
Low Ink Warningexpand_more
The low ink indicator light alerts you when cartridge ink is running low. Order replacement HP 65 or 65XL cartridges in advance to avoid unexpected downtime. You can continue printing even with low ink warnings until the cartridge is completely depleted.
USB Port Not Functioningexpand_more
The USB port on the 4230e has a label covering it to encourage wireless connection. If you need to use USB printing, carefully remove the label covering the USB port and connect a compatible USB cable to your computer.
