Product Setup
Unbox and Power On
Remove the HP DeskJet 4222e from its packaging and locate the power button. Plug the printer into a power outlet and press the power button to initialize the device. The printer will perform an automatic startup sequence that may take a few minutes.
Install HP 65/65XL Cartridges
Open the cartridge access area and remove the protective tape from new cartridges. Insert each cartridge at a 45-degree angle and rotate until the taller end clicks into place. Ensure cartridges are fully seated to avoid printing errors or low ink warnings.
Connect via Wireless or USB
For wireless setup, press the Wireless button on the printer and select your network from your device. Note: The USB port has a protective label that encourages network connection, but USB printing is available if needed by removing the label.
Install Printer Software
Download the HP DeskJet 4222e driver from HP's website and follow the on-screen installation prompts. Complete the software setup to enable all printer features, including cartridge monitoring and wireless printing from multiple devices.
Pro-Tip: Do not touch the copper-colored contacts or the ink nozzles. Touching these parts can result in clogs, ink failure, and bad electrical connections.
WiFi Connection Guide
Wireless Connection
Press the Wireless button on your HP DeskJet 4222e to enable WiFi. The wireless light will indicate connection status. Your device must be within range of your network's WiFi signal. Check that your printer and computer are on the same network for seamless printing.
USB Cable Connection
Although the USB port has a protective label encouraging wireless use, you can still print via USB cable if needed. Remove the label covering the USB port and connect directly to your computer for a stable, wired connection alternative.
