Unpack and Position Printer

Remove all packaging materials and protective tape from the printer. Place the HP DeskJet 4227e on a flat, stable surface near your WiFi router for optimal wireless connectivity.

Install HP 65 or 65XL Cartridges

Lift the cartridge access area cover. Insert the black and color cartridges by rotating them until the taller end clicks into place. Ensure cartridges are fully seated before closing the cover.

Connect via WiFi or USB

Press the wireless button to enable WiFi connectivity. Note: The USB port has a label encouraging network setup, but USB printing is available if needed. Connect to your network using the HP Smart app or printer control panel.

Pro-Tip: Do not touch the copper-colored contacts or the ink nozzles. Touching these parts can result in clogs, ink failure, and bad electrical connections.

WiFi Direct Connection

Connect directly to your printer without a network router using WiFi Direct. Press and hold the wireless button on the printer until the light blinks, then select the printer's network from your device.

Network WiFi Setup

Connect the printer to your home or office WiFi network using the HP Smart app. Ensure your device and printer are on the same network and within range of your WiFi router for reliable connectivity.
