Remove the HP 65 or HP 65XL cartridge and check that the protective tape has been fully removed from the copper contacts. Reinsert the cartridge firmly into the correct slot until it clicks. If the issue persists, clean the cartridge contacts with a lint-free cloth lightly dampened with distilled water and reinsert.

Turn off the printer and gently pull any jammed paper out in the direction of the paper path, avoiding tearing. Open the rear access door to check for and remove any remaining pieces of paper. Always load paper correctly in the input tray with the guides snug against the stack to prevent future jams.
