HP Smart App Setup

Download the free HP Smart app on your Windows or Mac computer to manage your HP DeskJet 2336 with an intuitive interface. The app allows you to print, scan, and copy, as well as monitor ink levels and access HP support resources. Use the app alongside your USB connection for a complete printer management experience.

Printer Not Printing or Not Respondingexpand_more
Make sure the USB cable connections are secure at both the printer and your computer, and verify the HP DeskJet 2336 is set as your default printer. Restart both your printer and computer, then try printing again. If the issue persists, uninstall and reinstall the HP printer driver from the HP support website.
Ink Alert Light is On or Blinkingexpand_more
The Ink Alert light on the HP DeskJet 2336 indicates a low ink level or a cartridge problem. Check that both HP 65 cartridges are properly seated by opening the cartridge access door and pressing each cartridge down until it clicks. If ink is low, replace the depleted cartridge with a genuine HP 65 or HP 65XL cartridge to restore print quality.
Poor Print Quality or Streaky Outputexpand_more
Poor print quality on the HP DeskJet 2336 is often caused by clogged printheads or low ink levels. Open the HP printer software or HP Smart app and run the 'Clean Printheads' utility to clear any blockages. If quality remains poor after two cleaning cycles, try printing a printhead alignment page or replace the affected HP 65 ink cartridge.
Paper Jam or Paper Feed Issuesexpand_more
If a paper jam occurs, turn off the HP DeskJet 2336 and carefully remove any jammed paper from both the input tray and output area without tearing it. Make sure you are loading paper correctly with the print side down and that the paper-width guides are snug but not too tight against the paper. Avoid overloading the tray and use only supported paper sizes and types for reliable feeding.
Scanner Not Working or Scan Failsexpand_more
If the scanner on your HP DeskJet 2336 is not working, first ensure the USB cable is securely connected and the printer driver is up to date. Place the document face-down on the scanner glass, aligning it to the corner marked with an arrow or icon. Open the HP Smart app or HP Scan software on your computer and initiate the scan from there rather than using the printer panel alone.
