This page covers everything you need — from initial setup and troubleshooting to maintenance tips and full specifications.
Product Setup
Unbox and Power On
Remove all packaging tape and protective materials from inside and outside the printer. Plug the power cord into a wall outlet and press the Power button to turn the HP DeskJet 2336 on. Wait for the printer to complete its initialization sequence before proceeding.
Install the Ink Cartridges
Open the cartridge access door and wait for the carriage to move to the center. Insert the HP 65 black cartridge into the left slot and the HP 65 tri-color cartridge into the right slot, pressing each down until it clicks securely into place. Close the access door when both cartridges are installed.
Load Paper and Connect via USB
Load plain white paper into the input tray and adjust the paper-width guides to fit snugly against the paper edges. Connect the USB cable from your computer to the printer, ensuring the connections are secure at both ends. Set the HP DeskJet 2336 as your default printer in your computer's settings.
Install Software and Print a Test Page
Download and install the latest HP DeskJet 2300 series driver from the HP support website or use the included setup instructions. Once installed, open the HP software and print an alignment page to ensure the cartridges are calibrated correctly. Your printer is now ready for everyday printing, scanning, and copying.
Pro-Tip: Do not touch the copper-colored contacts or the ink nozzles. Touching these parts can result in clogs, ink failure, and bad electrical connections.
