HP Smart App Setup

Use the HP Smart app on Windows or macOS to manage your HP DeskJet 2320 printer settings, check ink levels, and initiate scans or print jobs over the USB connection. Download the app from the Microsoft Store or Apple App Store and follow the on-screen instructions to add your printer.

Printer Not Responding or Won't Printexpand_more
Make sure the USB cable connections are secure at both the printer and the computer, and verify the HP DeskJet 2320 is set as your default printer. Restart both the printer and your computer, then try printing again. If the issue persists, uninstall and reinstall the printer driver from the HP support website.
Ink Alert Light Is On (Low Ink or Cartridge Error)expand_more
The Ink Alert light on the HP DeskJet 2320 indicates either low ink levels or a cartridge problem. Check both the HP 65 black and tri-color cartridges to ensure they are properly seated — remove and reinsert each cartridge until it clicks. If the light remains on, replace the low or depleted cartridge with a genuine HP 65 or HP 65XL cartridge.
Poor Print Quality or Faded Outputexpand_more
Poor print quality on the HP DeskJet 2320 is often caused by low ink levels, clogged printheads, or incorrect paper settings. Check ink levels via the HP Smart app and replace any low HP 65 cartridges. Run the printhead cleaning utility from your printer software, and ensure you have selected the correct paper type in the print dialog.
Paper Jam or Paper Feed Issuesexpand_more
If the HP DeskJet 2320 experiences a paper jam, turn off the printer and gently remove any jammed paper from the input tray or rear access panel, pulling slowly to avoid tearing. Make sure the paper-width guides are snug against the paper without bending it, and avoid overfilling the input tray beyond its capacity of approximately 60 sheets.
Scanner Not Working or Scan Failsexpand_more
If scanning fails on the HP DeskJet 2320, ensure the USB cable is firmly connected and the printer driver and HP Smart app are up to date. Place the document face-down on the scanner glass, aligned with the corner guides. Restart the HP Smart app and attempt the scan again; if the problem continues, reinstall the full-feature driver from the HP support site.

Important Safety Instructions

  • Clean the printhead regularly using the HP DeskJet 2320 printer software to prevent clogging and maintain sharp print quality, especially if the printer has not been used for an extended period.
  • Check HP 65 or HP 65XL ink cartridge levels frequently via the HP Smart app and replace cartridges before they run completely dry to avoid damage to the printhead.
  • Wipe the scanner glass with a soft, lint-free cloth to remove dust, smudges, and fingerprints that can reduce scan and copy quality on the HP DeskJet 2320.
  • Keep the input tray free of excess paper and debris, and fan sheets before loading to prevent multi-feeds and paper jams during print and copy jobs.
