Product Setup

Unbox and Power On

Remove all packaging materials and tape from the printer. Plug in the power cord and press the power button to turn on the HP DeskJet 3510. Wait for the printer to complete its initialization sequence before proceeding.

Install the Ink Cartridges

Open the cartridge access door and wait for the print carriage to move to the center. Remove the HP 61 or HP 61XL cartridges from their packaging, pull off the pink plastic tape tab, and slide each cartridge firmly into its slot until it clicks into place. Close the cartridge door when done.

Load Paper and Align Cartridges

Load letter or A4 plain white paper into the input tray, ensuring edges are flat and the paper-width guide fits snugly. After installing new cartridges, the printer will prompt you to align them — follow the on-screen instructions to print and scan an alignment sheet for best print quality.

Install Software and Connect

Install the HP DeskJet 3510 series printer software on your computer by following the setup wizard. Connect via USB cable (recommended max 3 metres) or set up a wireless connection through your network. Register your printer at http://www.register.hp.com for faster support and product alerts.

Wireless Network Setup

Connect the HP DeskJet 3510 to your home WiFi network for cable-free printing from any device. Access the wireless settings from the printer's control panel home screen, select your network, and enter your security password. For a quick and reliable connection, use a USB cable of 3 metres (10 feet) or less to connect the HP DeskJet 3510 directly to your computer. Press the Cancel button to attempt an automatic jam clearance. If unsuccessful, locate the jam manually. For input tray jams, gently pull paper out from the back. For output tray jams, gently pull from the front — you may need to open the carriage door and slide the print carriage right to access the jam. For internal jams, open the cleanout door on the bottom of the printer by pressing the tabs on both sides, remove the jammed paper, then close the door until both latches snap into place. Press OK to continue printing.
