Unbox and Position Your Printer

Remove all protective packaging and packing tape from the printer. Place the device on a flat, stable surface near a power outlet and ensure adequate ventilation for optimal performance.

Install HP 65 Ink Cartridges

Open the cartridge access area and firmly push the HP 65 black and color cartridges into their respective slots until they lock into place. Use the cartridges included with your printer for initial setup.

Connect to Power and Power On

Plug the power cord into an electrical outlet and press the power button. The printer will run through its initialization sequence, which may take a few minutes.

Set Up Wireless Connection

Press the wireless button on the printer to enable WiFi. Use the HP Smart app or your computer's WiFi settings to connect to your printer's network. If using Ethernet initially, disconnect the cable before completing WiFi setup.

Check that your printer is within range of your WiFi router and the wireless light is on. Verify your WiFi password is correct. If your device is out of range, move the printer closer to the router. For persistent issues, power off both the printer and router, wait 30 seconds, and restart them. When low ink indicators appear, your cartridges may need replacement soon. You can typically continue printing until the cartridge is completely empty. To replace, open the cartridge access area, remove the empty cartridge, and firmly push a new HP 65 or HP 65XL cartridge into the slot until it locks.
